With government shutdown looming, federal workers brace for the worst: Good Grief!

Headline from today's Washington Post: With government shutdown looming, federal workers brace for the worst.

Geez, these people who run your inefficient federal government are going to hit what, a few days of not going to their offices to perform their several coffee breaks a day? They might see a slight delay of their taxpayer funded paychecks, although they will be basically given a vacation since they will be paid all normal wages when their office doors are closed. Good greif, while the rest of America struggles to find jobs, not 10% unemployment and 20% underemployment, federal workers are brief victims of political theater.

Oh the Washington Post, what a joke your paper is!

If there is a shutdown, about 800,000 of the roughly 2.1 million federal workers nationwide are expected to be furloughed, with exceptions for national security and other essential employees.

But uncertainty could linger into next week if a shutdown goes into effect, as some workers report to work to shutter their offices and other agencies are able to stay open for slightly longer periods, officials and workers said...

The article continues with an interview from one of the coming victims:

“It puts me in a bind,” said George Mitchell, who works in the Department of Health and Human Services, as he stood outside a General Services Administration building on Seventh Street SW.

“Things are tight enough as it is,” he said. “The president has frozen [pay for] us for the next two years. . . . So we can’t get promotions or pay increases for the next two years. Yet still the bills keep coming. The light bill’s got to be paid. The rent’s still got to be paid. . . . It’s tight, and it’s stressful.”

As if you aren't supposed to have the normal life the rest of us Americans deal with everyday all because you have a government job Mr. Mitchell? Good grief. Keep whining? Government salaries have outpaced jobs in the free market, and the benefits appear to be second to none. Stop your whining. Is it any coincidence that a majority of the richest counties in America are stone's throw away from DC? Listen to this boob cry as he might not be required to go to work for a few days, but will receive back pay for not services performed once these other Washington boobs work this out.
