Turner Report and PoliticMO Reports on Billy Long's Government Shut Down Contradictions

It's looking like Billy Long's no vote against the stop gap measure to keep the government operating last night is creating more controversy. Long attacked Democrats for wanting to shut down the government last week, but then Long decided himself to vote to shut down the government.

In defense of Long, he obviously didn't like the compromise. He is to be commended for seeing it was a bad deal for conservatives and the American people. Long's problem is he is too quick to rush to a microphone or tweet for exposure. So we have this gem of a sound bite after Long decided to vote no.

From PoliticMo:

“There are those that have already purchased their cheerleading outfits hoping for a government shut down,” said Long at a press conference on the Senate steps. “Instead of playing chicken with our country’s future, Senate Democrats need to listen to the American people and get to work passing a bill.”

Randy Turner says Billy Long in a cheerleading outfit would be a scary site.

It's a scary thought, but judged on statements he made earlier this week we can expect to be seeing the spectacle of Seventh District Congressman Billy Long in a cheerleader skirt sometime in the near future.

He went on to say:

When it came time to cast his ballot Friday night, Long joined his friends on the Democratic cheerleading squad and cast a "no" vote for the budget deal which will enable Congress to pass the budget this week. Had Long's side prevailed, he would have the federal government shutdown for which he said the Democrats were cheerleading.

So in honor of Billy Long:
