Chevy Indy Car Racing League Deal: GM Owes $58 Billion in Bailouts but Has Lots of Time to go Racin'

Speed TV, one of my favorite networks, reports Chevrolet will race in the Indy Car series again next year. Chevrolet used to dominate the series, but Honda began building faster engines that Chevy couldn't compete with. It appears Chevrolet is posed to come back in the Izod Indy Car Racing Series with a brand new engine that promises to make GM competitive again.

I have just one question to ask. General Motors owed taxpayers over $58 billion that we are told will probably never be paid back, yet General Motors has obviously invested tens of millions of dollars in research and development to make a return to Indy car racing. Does anyone else have a problem with this? GM should be focusing on paying taxpayers back first before they focus on winning at the track, and I don't care if a win on Sunday means more sales on Monday. If that was the case, GM wouldn't be in the red considering their domination in NASCAR over the last several years.

I think taxpayers should demand GM pay back their bailout debt before they go racin'.
