No Surprise: Willie Nelson Busted for Marijuana Possession

The Sierra Blanca Police obviously weren't hunting the bad guys in and illegal aliens on Thanksgiving night. Rather they took the easy target--Willie Nelson's bus--the 78 year old country legend. Police boarded his tour bus and found six ounces of pot on his bus. Good grief!

So here we have a town that is being inflicted with the crimes that come with illegal immigration, and Willie Nelson's tour bus, which every Willie Nelson fan including myself knows is infamous for marijuana, is worth taking cops off the beat in order to set up a Boss Hogg like celebrity speed trap all to bust Willie Nelson on Thanksgiving night. Geez, the priorities of the Sierra Blanca police department!

Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana.

Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested.

Sheriff Arvin West didn’t immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.

Listen, I know its illegal, but what harm was it to anyone in Sierra Blanca, Texas, a town on the Mexican border compared with the greater problem that is going on. Most people know Willie Nelson's bus is going to have marijuana on it at any given time, heck Nelson smoked pot at the White House when Jimmy Carter invited him for a visit in the 1970s.

When you hear about the violence and the crimes that are taken place against Americans on the boarder, the Sierra Blanca Police have better things to do with their time than to harass Willie Nelson for something he isn't ashamed of doing as a free American.

I wonder how many illegal aliens were let into this country while Bill Brooks and his men were making their statement with Willie?
