Mainstream Media Not Reporting Christmas Tree Weapon of Mass Destruction Was Described as a Dummy Bomb

As I watched news coverage of the Portland Christmas Tree bomber this weekend, little was said in the media about the US Attorney's quote describing the bomb. The media covered almost every aspect of Mohamed Osman Mohamud, including going to the mosque he worshiped and talking to other Muslims, but few news stories I saw told the truth about the "weapon of mass destruction."

It turns out the "weapon of mass destruction" wasn't a weapon of mass destruction at all. As they are building this story up, probably so the United States can flex its muscle over its people with more soft tyranny from the Department of Homeland Security, it's important to note the US Attorney's office says the "weapon of mass destruction" was a dummy bomb.

Mohuamud is being charged with the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. The US Attorney's Office issued the following statement after Mohamud was arrested:

"The device was in fact inert, and the public was never in danger."

So why is the United States government labeling something that looked like a bomb but wasn't a bomb a weapon of mass destruction?
