What does this mean he hopes to stay true to his Southwest Missouri ideals?
Billy Long is a man who used negative campaigning to attack fellow Republicans, suggesting he was far superior in character because he wasn't a career politician and wouldn't be pulled into the sins of Washington as easy as Jack Goodman or Gary Nodler. Now we are getting this story that Billy Long hopes to remain true to his Southwest Missouri ideals...
Billy Long sold himself as the only candidate that had the character to survive Washington untarnished and uninfluenced. He was fed up and it wouldn't change him. He was the only "conservative" (yeah right-deceptiCON) in the race. To put it bluntly, he was fed up. Remember those days?
Now we are told Billy Long hopes to remain true to our Southwest Missouri values. It's almost like Long is starting to develop the wiggle room that we expect from career politicians.
There is no conviction in hope. There is only conviction in "will."

Of course, it's obvious looking through Billy Long's campaign finance reports he was never fed up with the status quo in Washington. Big special interest got to Billy Long long before the final vote was cast. Long even took money from General Motors who still owe taxpayers billions from a bailout. Money to turn a blind eye to the fact GM will probably never repay the bailouts possibly?
When it comes to Southwest Missouri ideals, I would say Billy Long is such a weak character and so easily influenced hope is all he has left to continue fooling the people, and I remind you hope didn't work very well in 2008. He has already sold his soul to the Washington leviathan and he is quickly asking you for wiggle room in hopes of forgiveness.
