I have always had an interest in politics. It started in Kindergarten when the Weekly Reader presented a classroom vote for president. It was 1976, and I chose Jimmy Carter because I was five and he had a friendly smile. Silly, I know but it led to me realizing from a very important age the significance of the American elections.
While I enjoyed politics throughout junior high and into high school, it wan't until the Clarence Thomas battle in the Supreme Court that I began to realize how the game was played. I engaged in the Clarence Thomas battle in the Senate. I watched an honorable man beaten down over allegations made from a woman that were decades old and unprovable. I figured what really scared liberal Democrats is one of the highest positions in American politics was about to be filled by a conservative black man, and this wasn't supposed to happen in the liberals' stereotypical world.
The center of the argument in hopes of disqualifying Thomas to the bench was a leaked FBI interview with Anita Hill. Hill accused Thomas of sexual harassment. Do you remember the allegation?
She accused Thomas of joking around about a pubic hair on a Coke can and the size of his own member. Now remember, she had nothing to prove these allegations, and yet, these allegations were nearly enough to keep Thomas off the Supreme Court, despite nothing to prove Thomas did anything wrong.
Fast forward to American 19 years later. The Federal Government that nearly kept a man off the Supreme Court for unprovable allegations is now going out of its way to allow a new division of a bureaucracy known as the TSA to put their hands down Americans pants, grope their genitals, take naked full body scans of their bodies, and we are told by this Federal Government who attempted to destroy a man's life for allegations that could never be proven that we just have to deal with it. Heck, Senator McCaskill is telling us to take our "love pats" or go through the naked full body scanner. I bet she would have voted against Thomas if she had the chance, and yet she advocates for a federal bureaucracy that is committing greater crimes against Americans.
It's just shameful.
