Two days ago, Byron York wrote that all airports can opt out of the TSA checkpoints as long as they produce their own security. To no surprise, Orlando's Sanford Airport is the first to opt out of the oppressive TSA checkpoints. I wonder how much influence Disney and other family attractions had to do with their decision.
"All of our due diligence shows it's the way to go," said Larry Dale, the director of the Sanford Airport Authority. "You're going to get better service at a better price and more accountability and better customer service."
Dale is sending a letter to the Department of Homeland Security stating their intent to opt out. Kudos to the Orlando airport. Let's hope the TSA starts falling like Dominoes. There is no need for this in the United States of America.
For other airports considering this, I wouldn't mind paying a $5 up charge on tickets to cover your security costs rather than be subjected to the oppressive TSA.
