Billy Long is becoming the laughing stock. The man who ran on a fed up with Washington DC platform fully embraced everything Washington offered this week during freshman orientation. He embraced career politicians, he embraced the left-wing media, and he even embraced Nancy Pelosi, obviously begging her for a snapshot taken with a camera phone. TOURIST!
Word is spreading quickly about Long's embrace of Washington DC. Fed up or overfed? I always knew it was the latter.
Randy Turner points out the Greene County Democrats have posted the picture of Billy Long all smiles with Nancy Pelosi on their Facebook page. Of course, as a conservative, I am less than trilled that Billy Long felt the need to have his picture taken with Pelosi, let alone the picture be one of the first he sends back to the district. It's clear Billy Long thinks part of being a Congressman is being a celebrity, and that's clearly what we have learned this week from his tweets.
That's why at 5:00 this morning, Long was still leading the media and constituents on with the story of whether or not he will where the cowboy hat in his official freshman picture. In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is all about Billy Long. With so many big issues facing this country, Billy Long has spent an awful lot of time tweeting things he probably shouldn't asking the district look at me, look at me, sort of like Donkey in Shrek jumping up and down yelling pick me, pick me.
Randy Turner points out the obvious:
The battle royal we all have anticipated since Billy Long ascended to Congressman-elect began this week as the former auctioneer squared off with the woman he described as evil incarnate (or words with fewer syllables to that effect). I can't wait to see how he handles Barack Obama.
If it's anything like his first encounter with Pelosi, Mr. Turner, it will probably look something like this:
Let's remember, there are quite of few things Billy Long says he likes about Obamacare. He is on record many times agreeing with Obama on the subject of healthcare as he tells people he is going to repeal it. When he gets back home to the 7th, he will probably sound more like this:
