Soldier Returning from Afghanistan Has Nail Clippers Taken From Him by TSA, M-16 Rifle Made it Past Security

Does it become anymore obvious about how stupid the TSA has become? A soldier returning from Afghanistan went through airport security with his unit on his way home from Afghanistan on a chartered plane. With an M-16 to carry on, the soldier writes of all things, his nail clippers were confiscated from him at the checkpoint.

The problem occurred at Indianapolis, where the TSA required the soldiers to go through security before flying further to their destination. The chartered plane stopped in Indy to drop off 100 members of a National Guard unit. The other soldiers were required to get off the plane and go through the naked body scanners with their rifles.

The TSA stopped one of the soldiers and told him he couldn't take his nail trimmers any further into the United States and confiscated them noting they could be used as a weapon. Now remind you, the butt of an M-16 is considered a weapon for hand to hand combat, and the TSA is worried about some nail trimmers?

I think the real picture here that needs to be exploited, here is a man in uniform fighting for freedom and liberty who isn't even free enough anymore to carry nail trimmers on an airplane in the same country he fights for.

Because he didn't have bullets for his weapon of war, it was considered safer than the nail trimmers.
