Billy Long Quiet About Rising Oil Prices, but Never Misses a Chance to Attach Himself to MSU's Basketball Success

Where's Billy Long's small business
common sense?
What happened to that small business common sense that Southwest Missouri supposedly sent to Washington DC? Thousands of small business owners around the Ozarks from Strafford to Joplin are looking at harder times this year because fuel prices are rising meaning Southwest Missourians will have less money to spend in their stores and on their services.

I have been watching for the slightest bit of evidence that Billy Long is fighting for the small business man in Southwest Missouri and addressing the threat of energy prices to these business owners. Day after day, Google alert after Google alert, I don't see any evidence that Long is fighting the Obama administration in the interest of Southwest Missouri small business owners who are facing tough times.

Southwest Missouri thrives on tourism thanks to Branson, the lakes, and Bass Pro. However, if gasoline hits $4 and then $5, there will be a lot less people spending money in Southwest Missouri, enjoying our lakes, and visiting these small businesses. I did a Google search today for Billy Long and oil. Articles from months ago popped up, but nothing recent showing that Long is working to ensure Southwest Missourians aren't held hostage to high oil prices. Where is the small business common sense? One would guess Long would have some concerns, considering his small business background, about what this means for donors like Ed Pinegar, who will probably watch Chevy trucks and SUVs sit on his lot--unsellable this year.

Where is Billy Long?

Oh that's right. Suddenly, Billy Long, who attended the University of Missouri and then dropped out, has taken a sudden interest in the success of the Missouri State basketball program. Missouri State plays for the Arch Madness Missouri Valley Championship today against Indiana State. Long seems to have no problem making statements about the Missouri State Bears these days, as he has jumped on the bandwagon, playing the role of career politician showing up at games every chance he can get. Tweets about MSU are all recent.

Do small business owners care more about the Missouri State Bears, or do they care more that their customers are going to have to make cuts in their budgets because Congress can't address the energy concerns and get America drilling again?

I think small business common sense, the type Long promised to take to Washington, should answer this question. Long is too busy being the political playboy, and seems little worried about oil prices. Not one tweet suggest Long is working with Republicans in Congress to address the concerns of small business owners, and there are no news stories suggesting that either.
