Billy Long's Buddy Peter King Gives Obama the Ultimate Green Light to Start Wars Anywhere

It is no secret Billy Long's best friend in Washington is Peter King. Billy Long has admitted all Peter King has to do is ask him to do something, and Long does it--like co-sponsoring HR607.

From the Springfield News-Leader two weeks ago:

Long said that was news to him. He said he co-sponsored the bill because King, the homeland security chairman, asked him to and because the bill is supported by many organizations that are committed to public safety.

Long might want to reconsider his relationship with King--or at least pull out that pocket Constitution he claims is rode hard and put up wet (probably from sitting on it and sweating all day and not reading it) and try to explain to Peter King the Constitutional responsibilities and limits of war. That is if Long understands it himself.

Peter King on the Hill made an ignorant and dangerous statement concerning the executive branch and war.

“The president has the absolute constitutional right to send troops in,” King says. “I am not a supporter of the War Powers Act. A president, especially in this day and age, has the right to use American forces without going to Congress first.” He argues that his view is the “traditional conservative position.”

So, King doesn't support the War Powers Act and yet gives Obama a free pass to start wars where ever and whenever he feels like? No checks and balances Mr. King? No Constitutional limits? This isn't a Constitutional conservative position Mr. King. This is a neocon position that believes the Bush Doctrine, which assures American aggression and imperialism, is maintained. There is nothing Constitutionally conservative about that Mr. King. True conservatives don't believe in starting wars all over the globe, especially wars we can't afford to pay for.

If you read Billy Long's rode hard and put up wet nasty sweaty copy of the Constitution, you would find the real war powers rest in Congress. There is a reason why the founding fathers didn't give that power to the commander and chief. They knew war was very serious and needed to have checks and balances to avoid what we are seeing today.

You, Mr. King, are a deceptiCON. Billy Long chooses his friends poorly.
