Billy Long's Support of HR607 Suggests Long May Blindly Support Internet Kill Switch

Today, I can put together another puzzle piece connecting HR607, the emergency broadband frequency act that robs HAM radio operators of one of their frequencies to the Internet kill switch that would give Obama supreme authority to silence the Internet. When I first heard of Peter King's (R-NY) plans for the federal government to take over these frequencies to produce a broadband width exclusive the emergency responders approved by the federal government, the first thing I asked was why does Peter King feel emergency responders need their own broadband frequency unless there was a chance the entire Internet was shut down. It seemed quite logical at that point that HR607, was really legislation that ensured certain individuals would still have the Internet if Obama or another president was to produce the kill switch.

Thanks to reader, there has been evidence suggested that further connects HR607 with the Internet kill switch. It turns out Republican Peter King co-sponsored the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010 (HR5548) along with Representative Jane Harmon (CA). Coincidence? I think not. I think King's HR607 creates a broadband frequency that continues some internet usage when the kill switch is in play.

Therefore the question needs to be asked. Congressman Billy Long has already taken heat for co-sponsoring HR607 from the HAM radio operators who will be robbed of this frequency. Knowing that Peter King sponsored HR607 and co-sponsored HR5548, does Billy Long too support the Internet kill switch?

I am worried considering how light heartedly Billy Long looks at the legislation he co-sponsors. Remember the Springfield News-Leader article that opened the eyes to many Southwest Missourians about how Billy Long conducts his business in Washington?

But when asked about the provision in the bill that would sell off the frequency used by amateur radio operators, Long said that was news to him. He said he co-sponsored the bill because King, the homeland security chairman, asked him to and because the bill is supported by many organizations that are committed to public safety, something he values.

Oh the dangers of Billy Long in Washington supporting career politicians like Peter King without considering the consequences!
