Not a Mandatory Curriculum Doesn't Get You Out of Paying Taxes for the International Baccalaureate

Many communities that adopt the International Baccalaureate curriculum soon complain about their property taxes rising for educational needs. The IB maintains hefty fees for schools that push its globalist agenda. Here in Ozark, Missouri, I am hearing a lot of school board members and candidates remind parents this is not a mandatory curriculum. That your student doesn't have to enroll in the IB program or classes. This may be true, but for parents who pay property taxes which include education taxes, there is no getting out of paying for the IB, even if it doesn't represent your values, American values, or anything resembling religious values.

The IB is a controversial organization in that it has close ties to the United Nations and has endorsed some radical left-wing causes like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This controversial doctrine includes the Earth Charter and is one all parents should learn about before their children enroll in IB. It outlines the basic foundation of the underlying theme of the IB curriculum.

Some underlying themes the Constitutional John Birch Society lists of the IB curriculum include:

Earth worship (pantheism).
Socialized medicine.
World federalism.
Income redistribution among nations and within nations.
Eradication of genetically modified (GMO) crops.
Contraception and “reproductive health” rights (inc., legal abortion).
World-wide “education for sustainability” which means planned communities and citizens told where they must live.
Debt forgiveness and different standards for third-world nations.
Adoption of gay rights and the right of children to all sexual materials and literature.
Elimination of any right to bear arms.
Environmental extremist positions, including global warming, bans on pesticides and genetically enhanced vegetables.
Setting aside biosphere reserves where no human presence is allowed, which means the government may come in and take your land for its own higher purposes — something that is now being debated in a case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

With that said, your kid may be spared the indoctrination of the radical left wing agenda of the IB by choosing not to participate, but your checkbook doesn't have that option. You are going to pay for this indoctrination through education taxes often found in your personal property taxes. I think you need to ask yourself how does it feel to be paying taxes for an education curriculum that doesn't match yours or the community's values? That's going to be the reality of it, and while the curriculum might be optional, paying your taxes isn't.
