Kid Rock Earns More American Patriot Points: NAACP Boycotts Kid Rock

Do you think Kid Rock, who has moved from hip hop to country rock is worried the NAACP is calling for a boycott of Kid Rock's concerts? It makes me want to see him more. Kid Rock is an American Patriot who spends lots of time with our troops in war zones and writes music that is Amercian proud. So what did Kid Rock do to upset the NAACP other than support pro-American causes?

He has flown the Confederate Flag at concerts. The Confederate Flag has been given a less than accurate label as a symbol of slavery, when really it's symbol of states rights and has very little to do with slavery--the North was over taxing Southern states and they seceded, and the NAACP doesn't want to look at Abraham Lincoln's record on slavery as they celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation ignoring all the negative things Lincoln said about slaves before and after the Civil War. Remember Lincoln is on record saying he didn't care about slavery, thought about introducing a Constitutional Amendment to protect slavery, and a new book now has brought to life Lincoln encouraged free slaves to leave the United States and colonize elsewhere.

The rocker is set to receive the Detroit branch's Great Expectations Award at the annual dinner, which typically attracts about 10,000 people, on May 1 at Cobo Center.

But Adolph Mongo, a longtime political consultant and head of Detroiters for Progress, said he and others will sit out over Kid Rock's use of the controversial Confederate flag during performances.
"It's a slap in the face for anyone who fought for civil rights in this country," Mongo said Thursday. "It's a symbol of hatred and bigotry."

NAACP officials defended the honor.

"Kid Rock ... has consistently lifted up the Great Expectations of many persons … concerning the future of the city," Donnell R. White, interim executive director of the Detroit Branch NAACP, said in a statement.

Kid Rock and his representatives couldn't be reached. But in a 2008 interview with the Guardian in Britain, he said the flag to him represents southern rock 'n' roll.
