Hiking the Buckeye Trail, Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls to Ash Cave

Cedar Falls
When you think about Ohio, you tend not to think about waterfalls, deep gorges, large knobs, and small mountains. However, Ohio borders the Appalachian states and offers the foothills to the Appalachians which provides some beautiful terrain that many overlook like the Hocking Hills area.

I hiked 12 miles in this area and found it to be spectacular, offering a multitude of beautiful topography and unique features like the Devil's Bathtub. There are multiple waterfalls in the area, some small and some quite impressive like Cedar Falls. The hike had some steep hills to climb and lowered into a beautiful gorge called Old Man's Gorge which houses Old Man's Cave. Take a look at the beauty Ohio has to offer as we explore the Appalachians.

This area is also on the Buckeye Trail, which is a 1400 mile plus trail that highlights Ohio from Lake Erie to the Ohio River and all over. You know you are on the trail when you see the blue 2" x 6" blue blazes painted on trees, rocks, and signs directing you down the trail.

The above falls flows down into this smaller area of falls hidden in the rocks.
