That's Not Acceptable Steny Boy!: 20 Years to Balance the Federal Budget?

Steny Hoyer says Congress has been on such a wild spending spree, that it may take 20 years before they can actually balance the budget. That's not acceptable Steny Boy!

Hoyer said, “Now [that] we’re at $14 trillion in debt, I think the answer is – responsibly – we’re not going to get there [a balanced budget] in ten years, but we have to be on a very considered path to get there, certainly, within the next decade and a half or two decades,” Hoyer said Tuesday at his weekly press briefing.

“I don’t think you can get there in ten years. I think it’s going to take a longer time [because] we’ve dug such a deep hole. We turned a $5.6 trillion [projected] surplus into $5 trillion in additional debt.”

What do you think Hoyer will say next year when the federal debt hits $16 trillion? Will it be 22 years before they can balance the budget? Notice how the blame Bush rhetoric comes out. While I am not fan of George W. Bush, Hoyer hopes that we will forget that Obama has set record deficits and is overseeing money spent faster than any other administration. Can you say failed stimulus and other wasteful spending Mr. Hoyer?
