Rand Paul 2012? Finally a Republican I Can Get Excited About

It's no secret that I think Rand Paul is the best thing to happen to the Republican party in quite some time. His fresh approach to looking at the Constitution before legislating is an example the entire Republican party needs to follow, so perhaps it's a good think Senator Paul is rumored to be throwing his name into the mix of Republicans seeking the nomination for the President of the United States.

Senator Paul is currently on tour visiting multiple states with early presidential primaries. While he hasn't committed, he did lay one condition down that will determine whether or not he is a candidate in 2012.

“The only decision I’ve made is I won’t run against my dad,” Rand Paul said, adding that he wants to see the Tea Party influence the 2012 GOP nominee.

Finally, a candidate the Tea Party can trust. A lot of candidates claim they are Tea Party, including the possible bid by Michele Bachmann, but we know all of them including Bachmann with her support for the USA Patriot Act has betrayed the Tea Party with the exception of Ron and Rand Paul.

I personally don't think, because of his age Ron Paul is going to run. I think the fact Rand Paul is touring important primary states while Congress is on leave this week is a sign the torch has been passed from father to son.
