Colonel Harland Sanders was many things in his lifetime, but his fried chicken made him famous. It's 13 secret herbs and spices fried in a pressure cooker is what you now know as KFC's original recipe. Before there was Kentucky Friend Chicken, there was Sanders Cafe in Corbin, Kentucky.
You can still eat at the Sanders Cafe, although it's dressed up halfway as a modern KFC combined with a museum dedicated to the Colonel, noted as Kentucky's most famous citizen, in the original dining room. I pulled off the road to experience where it started. Here are some pictures from my visit.
The Colonel served up his chicken to his hotel guests. The musuem provides what his rooms were like. |

My parents had Christmas Eve with Colonel Sander in their record collection. It is on display at Sanders Cafe. |
