Bungalow Bill Turns 40 Today and is Taking the Weekend Off

November 1972

In order to limit aging caused by stress, I am going to take three days off not thinking about the harm Barack Obama is causing this country. Today is my 40th birthday, and I am going to once again prove to myself I am young and capable.

Now when my grandparents were in their forties, they seemed old to me. I don't want to look or feel that way, so I am in the Great Smoky Mountains again this week doing the things I did when I was in my twenties--hiking up mountains. Since I didn't get a shot last week at Clingman's Dome due to the weather, I will be trekking up Clingman's Dome on the Appalachian Trail and I have added Mount Le Conte to my itinerary. Mount Le Conte is the beautiful mountain that overlooks Gatlinburg.

This is how I want to spend my 40th birthday, up in the mountains reflecting life thinking about all the great things I have accomplished, seen, and done in the first 40 years, while realizing the clock is ticking and there is so much more I want to see and do.
