Have you ever heard of Cheerwine? I hadn't either until I saw a special on the history of sodas in the United States, which looked beyond Coke and Pepsi to note the smaller regional sodas. One of the sodas the documentary featured was a regional soda from North Carolina called Cheerwine.
Cheerwine is a lightly carbonated cherry soda. They are a family owned company that has been passed down from generation to generation and is based out of North Carolina. Cheerwine has been slowly expanding their distribution to other states, but it's still remaining regional in the south.
Well I tasted my first Cheerwine this past weekend in Tennessee, which I found at a Food City. It was about the best tasting soda I have ever had.
