The Billy Long Legislative Review: Feb 20, 2011 to Mar 7, 2011

Billy Long has been busy voting. In fact, the Springfield News-Leader reported Long has voted over 150 times in his first two months. I have just one question, is Billy Long reading each word of these bills, amendments, and motions before voting on them? I seem to recall him promising us he would after the healthcare bill fiasco, but considering Long's social life, evident on Twitter, I wonder where Congressman Long finds the time to even read a few pages of these bills. Of course the volume of his tweets has declined, so maybe he is making an attempt--MAYBE?

Now, there is something interesting to note, and Southwest Missouri Veterans should be paying attention here. You have earned your benefits that were promised to you, but I keep hearing out of Mount Vernon they keep cutting services at the VA clinic and have funding shortages for office supplies and other needed materials needed to provide veterans services in Mount Vernon. So it's interesting that Long voted to continue funding federally sponsored NASCAR teams in HR1 Amendment 50, when so many Southwest Missouri veterans are having to do without when it comes to veteran services. I guess Mr. Long's priority isn't Southwest Missouri veterans.

Here's his voting record on major issues and bills for February 20 through March 7:

Yea on HR 394 Federal Courts Jurisdiction and Venue Clarification Act

Yea on HR347 Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act

Yea on HR368 Removal Clarification Act

Yea on HJ Res 44 Making further continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2011

Yea on agreeing to the Amendment: Amendment 1 to HR662

Yea on HR662 Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2011

Yea on Passage of HR4 Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011
