| Small business common sense doesn't apply anymore for Billy Long. |
Well, Congressman Billy Long has been on the job just over two months, and its time for Congress to take a paid vacation. Next week is a scheduled recess for the new Congress, and I am thinking what the???
What has Billy Long and the GOP done to earn a vacation? They sure having lived up to their budget cutting promises. With the debt crisis growing larger every day, Billy Long and the Republicans failed to even come up with a meager $100 billion in spending cuts. How pathetic is that? And they think they deserve a vacation?
Now Long sold himself as the small business common sense candidate. Here's some small business common sense that I am sure is practiced in Long's real estate business. If you are a salesman, for example, and you are far short of of your goals, do you take a vacation? It's frowned upon in the business world. Now if Congress were businessmen with a goal of $100 billion, they are at barely half their quota with $61 billion (in cuts). Hardly worthy of a vacation. Come on Billy, where is that small business common sense?
Here's something else that was revealed about Billy Long this past week that makes me ask does Billy Long really deserve a vacation on the tax payers dime as Congress recesses next week. Billy Long obviously isn't doing his homework either. He's quick to put his name as the co-sponsor of multiple pieces of legislation, but Long obviously isn't putting much effort into READING the legislation he is co-sponsoring.
Let's go back to Billy Long's "small business common sense." When you have a new product as a businessman, you have to research that product and get familiar with multiple aspects of that product in order to market the product. Apparently Billy Long didn't bring that belief to Washington either as the Springfield News-Leader exposed.
But when asked about the provision in the bill that would sell off the frequency used by amateur radio operators, Long said that was news to him. He said he co-sponsored the bill because King, the homeland security chairman, asked him to and because the bill is supported by many organizations that are committed to public safety, something he values.
You mean Billy Long didn't read the bill, discover how the constituents he represents feels about the bill, and research the issues? He just did what Peter King told him to do.
A vacation Billy? If you were working in the real world for someone, the words vacation would get you laughed out of your manager's office based on your lackadaisical performance.
