Billy Long Already Cozying Up with Jack Abramhoff Types in DC: Lot's of Special Interest Money has Already Bought Fed Up Billy

The Turner Report has gone through Billy Long's final Federal Election Commission campaign finance reports. Despite Senate-candidate Sarah Steelman telling voters Billy Long would not be bought by special interest in DC, while pushing him to be the ultimate DC outsider, Billy Long's campaign reports show Steelman is either incredibly naive or just can't be trusted. I tend to think the latter.

The Turner Report writes:

Give Billy Long credit.

He appears to have already shortened the learning curve most Congressional freshman have to take.

Missouri's sole member of the Cowboy Hat Caucus has not even served one day in Congress and he already has received a campaign contribution from a Washington lobbyist with strong ties to convicted felons Jack Abramoff and Tom DeLay.

Federal Election Commission records show Karl Gallant, owner of Aduston Consulting, and a former aide to convicted ex-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, contributed $250 to Long's campaign on election day.

Gallant, in addition to being a former DeLay aide, later worked as a lobbyist for Alexander Strategy Group, a company that was shut down in 2006 because of its connection to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Gallant has made a name for herself representing the tobacco interests of R. J. Reynolds...

Turner goes on to point out all the special interest money that has came into "fed up with Washington" Billy's campaign before everything was said and done on November 2. Now remember, in her endorsement of Billy Long, the pseudo maverick Sarah Steelman stated Billy Long wouldn't be influenced by special interest. Well, clueless Sarah, he sure had no problems taking their money.
