According to the latest Public Policy Polling information, Sarah Steelman finds herself way behind in the United States Senate race in Missouri when Missouri voters put her up against other potential candidates that include former US Senator Jim Talent and Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder. The poll shows Steelman at the bottom of the three way race.
Here is what the poll found:
Talent is preferred by 53% when pitted against announced candidate Sarah Steelman,
who gets 17%, and Peter Kinder, who has half of Talent’s support, at 26%. Only 4% are
not sure. Last Wednesday’s release showed both Talent and Kinder leading McCaskill
by two points and the incumbent beating Steelman by one, in what should be yet another
in a string of very evenly matched races for this seat.
62% of her own party’s most fervent voters still have no expressed opinion of Steelman,
the former state treasurer, nor do 57% know enough about Lieutenant Governor Kinder,
so both have plenty of time in about a year and a half to raise their profiles. Those who
have heard of the two are overwhelmingly positive, 34-9 for Kinder and 25-13 for
Steelman.
