Dick Thompson to be Evicted from His Camper: Madison County, Indiana Violates his Personal Property Rights

Dick Thompson lives on 38 acres of land off of Highway 9 in Alexandria, Indiana. He pays the property tax, but lives a minimal life. One has to wonder if the minimal life which leads is getting in the way the country collecting minimal taxes from Mr. Thompson, a 72 year old man who lives in a vacation travel trailer. Now Madison County, Indiana wants Thompson removed from his own land.

His crime? Living too simply. He's not hooked up to the county grid of water and sewer and other services they are forcing upon him. So much for being free right?

“I want to get the hell out of here right now — too much hate,” Thompson says one minute.

“I think it’s a bunch of bull,” he says another, vowing to stay.

Thompson faces eviction from his 38 acres in Madison County. The county lawyer tells 24-Hour News 8 it’s because Thompson is breaking too many rules, laws and ordinances; Thompson has no water, no sewer and no electricity in his recreational trailer that he calls home.

He says, "he just wants to be left alone." So do most of us Mr. Thompson, so do most of us. Can you believe this. As a private property owner in the United States, government still has the ultimate authority over the way you live. Home of the free? I beg to differ.
