Congressman Long Throwing ANOTHER Fundraiser

During the Republican primary, candidate Billy Long attacked career politicians claiming they spend too much time in Washington getting reelected. Well guess what, now that Billy Long is one of them and has the title Congressman, he is spending A LOT of time worried about getting reelected.

It started just nine days after Long won his seat in Congress. He sent out an e-mail to Missouri State political science students for interns to work his reelection committee. So without even casting his first vote, Long began his reelection bid.

Since then, Long has maintained a busy fundraising record hosting expensive dinners at swank restaurants, and even attending CPAC not to become a better Constitutional conservative (if that is even possible at CPAC anymore) but to raise money for his reelection bid.

We have learned of another event to raise money for Congressman Long. Now remember, Long promised voters of Southwest Missouri he would do things like read bills and work hard to cut spending, but it appears Long is more ready to raise money for his reelection bid than the work he needs promised to put into his job in Washington. Remember, the Springfield News-Leader said Long was unaware HR 607, a bill he co-sponsored with Peter King, confiscated frequencies from HAM radio operators. As well, when it came to cutting spending in HR1 Congressman Long proposed no spending cuts, but was quick to support federal funding for NASCAR teams.

Here's the information about the latest Billy Long fundraiser.

Dinner for Billy Long

There is $1000 charge if you are one of those special interest groups we were told by the likes of Sarah Steelman that Billy Long wouldn't let influence him in Washington, and there is a $500 for the average Joe (as if that still applies to American politicians) to attend the event. Washington, including Billy Long, doesn't care about the average Joe unless they are expanding their campaign coffers.

So this is what Sarah Steelman promised Southwest Missouri we would get out of Billy Long when she endorsed him:

I hope you will consider voting for Billy Long for Congress. The way I see it is we need someone who is not part of the political establishment. We need someone who loves his country and is willing to put his country before himself; before his party; before politics as usual; before special interest groups; before lobbyists; and before his colleagues in Congress. We need someone who will put YOU before money and power and influence.

But it's clear, seeing how Long always invites special interest groups (PACs) to his event, Steelman obviously didn't know who she was endorsing or knew the fed up of DC routine was meaningless rhetoric. Long is clearly allowing special interest to influence him as he throws ANOTHER fundraiser.

The Democrats: The Party of Racism in America Today (Donna Brazile)

When I think of the Democratic party, I think of racism. Color is about power, and the race card is the game to acquire that power by keeping Americans divided by their skin color. As we look back to the beginning of the Civil War today, it's almost as if the Democrats fight a "cold civil war" hoping to instigate emotional wins with claims that are meant to generate anger and do nothing to improve racial problems in the United States.

For instance, here is the perfect example that is coming to light. This is the Democratic National Committee's Interim Chairman, Donna Brazile once again playing the race card. Do you think it's a coincidence it comes on the heals of Barack Obama's announcement he is running for a second term in 2012 and polls show Obama isn't as popular with blacks as he once was in America?

‘THE MAJORITY OF WHITE PEOPLE BELIEVE THOSE PEOPLE ARE TAKING OUR MONEY AND TAXES’

Oh, as the debate rages in Washington over entitlement cuts, we get this cute little racial quote from the Democrats. I am not surprised.

Billy Long Isn't Fed Up With the Congressional Forum Letter: 700,000 Plus People is Unmanageable for Any Congressman

One of the great problems I find in our failing Republic today is the number of people an elected member of Congress serves is unmanageable. When our country began, an elected member of the House of Representatives was supposed to represent about 30,000 people according to our Constitution (Article One Section Two). Now elected officials like Billy Long serve over twenty times that amount in their district, and it's hard to be a voice among three quarters of a million people. It's no wonder special interest and money has taken over your elected representatives vote.

Obviously, one of the real clues districts of 700,000 people are unmanageable for an elected member of Congress to serve is the very fact that when you contact your member of Congress to express your concerns, unless you are a big contributor, chances are you are going to get a forum letter once you express your concerns.  Blogger  Jonathon LaBrie gave evidence of this last week as he noted he presented Congressman Long, the same Congressman who claims his pocket Constitution is rode hard and put up wet, a letter with a Constitutional argument about why Obama's attack on Libya is illegal. Long sent an obvious forum letter back in which he waffled on both sides of the debate--supporting Obama's military actions while trying to make the case he is familiar with the warnings of the founding fathers when it comes to war.

A few days ago, I wrote Congressman Long on my dissatisfaction of the Boehner's budget deal. In it, I expressed how I am concerned Republicans are living up to their promises to ensure a return to Constitutional republicanism as our founding father's prescribed giving examples of what is wrong with this budget battle. In the letter I mentioned the keyword Patriot Act as another example of Republicans failing the Constitution. Obviously, that was the keyword Congressman Long's document management system picked up as it scanned the e-mail, because I received the following e-mail expressing Congressman Long's position on the Patriot Act:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the USA PATRIOT Act; I appreciate hearing from you on such an important issue to constituents of the Seventh District of Missouri.

As you may know, the U.S. House of Representatives recently extended three expiring provisions of the Patriot Actuntil December 8, 2011; these three provisions will have to be extended again before that date and will be fully reviewed with the rest of the Patriot Act.  These provisions of the law are fairly modest despite the Act's controversial nature as they merely allow our counterterrorism community use of the same tools local law enforcement officials have been using for decades while containing elaborate safeguards to prevent abuses by Federal agents.

The first provision, the Business Records Provision, allows law enforcement to obtain the same business records in terrorism cases grand juries routinely subpoena for criminal cases; the difference is Federal prosecutors are allowed to subpoena documents from businesses on their own.  The Patriot Act requires the Federal Bureau of Investigationsto obtain a judge's permission before officials can access business records in terrorism cases.  The provision also imposes special limits when investigators seek records from sensitive enterprises and expressly bars the government from investigating Americans solely upon the basis of activities protected by the First Amendment.

The second provision, or the Roving Wiretap Provision, also does not extend beyond current criminal law.  Sophisticated criminals in the United States try to avoid surveillance by repeatedly switching cellular telephones, and potential terrorists utilize the same tactics.  In 1986, Congress passed a law addressing this problem by allowing investigators to track criminals with roving wiretaps, where courts approve wiretaps for particular people instead of particular devices; the Patriot Act allows the same thing in national-security investigations.  This provision also contains strict safeguards to protect civil liberties, as in criminal cases, and a court order is necessary.

The third provision, or the "Lone Wolf" Provision, allows investigators to apply for a court order to monitor a suspected terrorist, even if they have not yet found enough evidence to prove that he is a member of a foreign terrorist organization.  Had this provision been in place prior to September 11, 2001, officials may have been able to discover the terrorist plot.  Prior to September 11, officials suspected that Zacarias Moussaoui, who was then in custody on immigration charges, was an Islamist terrorist.  However, they had not yet connected him to al-Qaeda, and consequently were unable to search his apartment or computer.  The 9/11 Commission later speculated that if officials had been able to investigate Massaoui, they might have unraveled the entire the September 11 plot; additionally, this provision only applies to foreign terrorists or agents of foreign powers and not American citizens.

I believe that these common sense measures are necessary to defend our nation against terrorists and hostile foreign powers.  I am deeply aware of our need to protect American citizen's Fourth Amendment liberties, and when the Patriot Act is brought up for a full review in December, I will evaluate each component and ensure that it meets the exacting standards of the United States Constitution.

Again, I certainly appreciate you contacting on this important issue. Hearing from all Missourians allows me to better understand your perspective on issues and how they impact the future of Missouri and the nation. For additional information regarding current legislation and my representation of the Seventh District, I invite you to visit my website at long.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Billy Long
Member of Congress

My question in all of this is when are we going to realize that our representative republic is going to fail if we don't continue the system our founding fathers developed that ensure a Congressman is in more in touch with their constituents--such as smaller districts so the average citizen isn't drowned out by special interest money--often coming from out of the district.

Video of the Plane Crash at JFK Between Air France 7 and Comair 6293

A ground incident that happened at JFK was caught on video. Air France flight 7, an Airbus 380, collided with Comair 6293 as its wing struck the tail of the smaller Comair plane. As you will see in the video, the larger plane strikes the smaller plane and violently spins it a nearly 90 degrees.

Obama Pushing for Spending Cuts While Pushing for Debt Ceiling Increase

As Obama talks about making cuts to the federal budget--small cuts, don't get excited yet--one has to wonder just how insincere Obama is about these cuts. At the same time Obama is talking about looking at all corners of government for cuts, he is expressing regret over a 2006 vote.

The White House said Monday that President Barack Obama regrets his vote as a senator in 2006 against raising the debt limit — the same kind of increase he's now pressuring Congress to approve.

Obama "thinks it was a mistake," presidential spokesman Jay Carney told reporters. "He realizes now that raising the debt ceiling is so important to the health of this economy and the global economy that it is not a vote that, even when you are protesting an administration's policies, you can play around with."

Gee, nearly $1 trillion in stimulus spending did little to improve the health of this economy, and with $5 a gallon gasoline coming quickly, any little bit of progress that may have been gained is quickly going to be reversed. All of this stimulus spending was made possible thanks to the Democrats raising the debt ceiling as Obama took office.

Rather than try to prevent another debt ceiling and live within the means of what the government takes in, they try to paint the economic apocalypse of what will happen if we don't raise the debt ceiling, which is where Obama has his regrets. Rather than pay off the debt we have, it's easier to raise the debt ceiling so we can continue to borrow to provide all the unconstitutional services the federal government now partakes in while financing interest payments on the debt, meaning more debt.

The country will reach its debt limit of $14.3 trillion by May 16. If Congress doesn't raise it by then or shortly thereafter, the government would not be able to make debt payments, leading to an unprecedented default of the national debt and driving up borrowing costs for the government, U.S. companies and consumers, the Treasury Department warns.

It's not hard to see why we are never going to escape this tragedy.

No Surprise Here: Mitt For Brains Romney is Running for President in 2012

Mitt for Brains Romney officially announced he is forming an exploratory committee for the upcoming Presidential election in 2012. Is this any big surprise? Just like there will be another fact about Romney for president that won't be a big surprise. There will be Republicans (not necessarily conservatives) who will vote for Romney even after two years of griping rightfully so about Obamacare. They will ignore the fact that Obamacare is based in part on Romneycare.

Oh, but Romney looks like he may have been picked to save us. The man who helped implement Romneycare in Massachusetts is talking salvation.

“It is time that we put America back on a course of greatness with a growing economy, good jobs and fiscal discipline in Washington,” Romney said.

Tell us something we don't know Mitt.

Loyola University Maryland Has It's Own If You See Something Say Something Policy: “REPORT UNEQUAL TREATMENT"

The idea of tattling on your fellow man is now embraced by liberals (and some neocons like Peter King (R-NY) and Billy Long (R-MO). Both of these neocons placed their names on the new bill endorsed by Big Sis, the If You See Something Say Something Act of 2011, which encourages citizens to become domestic spies for the federal government. Now we are seeing this same mentality hit the college campuses as education proves to be the perfect indoctrination zone and testing ground for freedom killing ideas.

It's happening at Loyola University in Maryland where a new multiculturalist administration has come in and begged students to report all non-politically correct activities going on within their campus. To support the administration's student spy network, they had pamphlets printed with the words “REPORT UNEQUAL TREATMENT" printed all over them.

An e-mail address adds to the ease in which students can report another student for telling a off-color joke or perhaps reading a book one might consider hate speech.
